Kiwanis Peanut Day began in Chicago in September 1951 with 8 clubs participating. With limited publicity and experience, these 8 clubs managed to raise more than $18,000 in one day! Since then, over $60,000,000 has been raised by Kiwanis Clubs for their charitable projects using the Kiwanis Peanut Day Fund Raising Program. Kiwanis Peanut Day has become the most successful coordinated one day fund raising program in Kiwanis history.
Kiwanis Peanut Day, Inc. is a not for profit committee of active Kiwanians in the Illinois-Eastern Iowa District. This not for profit Kiwanis sponsored fund raising program is exclusively for Kiwanis Clubs. Sponsored Youth Organizations wishing to use products provided through Kiwanis Peanut Day, Inc. might do so through their sponsoring Kiwanis Club, Faculty Advisor, or School Administration.
This year, Peanut Day in Chicago is Sept. 23, 2011.
Greater Chicagoland is any time during the year.
